Black Bear Pass

Status Unknown Expert 12,840 ft ~12 miles rocky/ledge

Black Bear Pass is one of the most thrilling and technically demanding 4WD trails in Colorado. The one-way descent from Imogene Pass drops through exposed ledge steps with sheer cliffs on the driver's side — this is not a trail for the faint of heart or an unprepared rig. Located in the San Juan Mountains near Telluride, it rewards experienced drivers with jaw-dropping views of the canyon below. A high-lift jack, recovery gear, and a spotter are strongly advised.
